I’ve heard alot of remakes of classic hip hop songs. But I just feel this guy Kobane has a way making the song his while paying homage at the same time to the original. And “Bonita Applebum was my SH*T. So much that I had a cassette with “Bonita Applebum” on Side A and Side B when I was younger.Oh and I wouldnt let my cousin Michael give me a shape up if my life depended on it. Peace Mike. lol. You did yah thing Kobe.!!!!!Enjoy all!!!!! “Shaquita, Shaquita , Shaquita …..Cool…”

These are the first 2 installments of the MeKobane flip files. Day purchased one of those cool ass HD flip cameras which I need to get A.S.A.P or maybe the Kodak Z16. I dont know yet but I will be carrying one of those very soon. Of course Day had to catch footage on the way to Kobanes session. The second video was of the actual recording session of Kobanes “Yeah Yeah I Know” produced by Verse & BSKI. I forgive you Day…….we all make mistakes. j/k.lol. Chris of Weapon X promotions happen to stop by the session to see what we was cookin up. We should of caught his reaction on film when he heard the other joints but we can do that next time.lol. Verse and I stood up to like 5am in the studio the day before making the track for “Yeah Yeah I Know” from scratch, tracking it into protools, arranging it and giving it a ruff mix. Kobane did the song on the spot the next day. Now thats putting in work. I love it. – BSKI
When I first heard “We Run Things (It’s Like Dat)” by Da Bush Babees, produced by Ali Shaheed Muhammad, the track blew my mind. I was 14 and going to J.H.S. 56 out in L.E.S. The song was amazing and at that age I was deep into reggae and hip-hop, and Da Bush Babees mixed both styles in their music. I was feeling this track so much that I copped the CD and would listen to the whole album (without skipping a track) every day. Listening to this joint today reminds me of lunch time back in J.H.S. reciting the lyrics with my homeboys in the park. “It’s Like Dis Y’all, It’s Like Dat Y’all We Represent for Hip Hop and Not the Rap Y’all……….” via YouTube.

I remember this from the Video Music Box days when I was attending P.S 151. I would run home to catch Video Music Box with Ralph McDaniels @ 3:30pm. I was 12 years old when this video came out. I almost shitted on myself when I heard this beat. And to this day I could play this shit and still catch goose bumps. Talk about standing the test of time.
